Introducción. La prehabilitación del paciente con hernia ventral ha demostrado estar asociada a una disminución en la incidencia de complicaciones postoperatorias y recidiva. Actualmente no existen trabajos con alto nivel de evidencia que avalen protocolos definidos. No obstante, en los últimos años existe un creciente interés en torno a este tema. Por ello, el objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar una actualización bibliográfica al respecto.
Métodos: Revisión de artículos científicos consultando la base de datos MedLine.
Resultados: Se revisaron un total de 32 artículos, destacando 3 ensayos clínicos randomizados y 12 revisiones sistemáticas.
Conclusiones: Los estudios revisados demuestran la importancia de la prehabilitación del paciente y de la pared abdominal en la optimización de los resultados postquirúrgicos. Sin embargo, son necesario estudios con un alto nivel de evidencia que especifiquen protocolos definidos.

Introduction: prehabilitation of the patient with ventral hernia has been shown to be associated with a decrease in the incidence of postoperative complications and recurrence. currently, there are no studies with a high level of evidence that support defined protocols. however, in recent years there has been a growing interest in this topic. therefore, the objective of this work is to carry out a bibliographical update on the matter.
Methods: review of scientific articles consulting the medline database.
Results: a total of 32 articles were reviewed, highlighting 3 randomized clinical trials and 12 systematic reviews.
Conclusions:the reviewed studies demonstrate the importance of prehabilitation of the patient and of the abdominal wall in optimizing postoperative results. however, studies with a high level of evidence that specify defined protocols are needed.
