Selección de pacientes para CMA

Selection of patients for CMA

Abstract

Each CMA Unit must assess what type of patients and procedures it performs, based on their structural and organizational characteristics and their experience. In general, the CMA Unit operates on patients type I, II of the Davis classification, and selected type III. The selection criteria must take into account the possible pre-existing pathology of the patient, -which may be excluding- especially ASA risk, obesity, OSAS, arterial hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, renal failure and neurological disease. The social environment of the patient and the characteristics of the surgery to be practiced, as well as the resources of the Unit itself, must be considered in a decisive way.
