Diagnóstico inusual de un quiste hidatídico hepático gigante
Unusual diagnosis of a giant hydatid cyst.
Resumen
La hidatidosis puede mostrar signos radiológicos atípicos que pueden inducir a un diagnóstico erróneo inicial. Presentamos el caso de un paciente alcohólico con distensión abdominal progresiva y hallazgo radiológico de un quiste gigante abdominal que ocupaba toda la cavidad abdominal y con características compatibles con un pseudoquiste pancreático. El drenaje ecoguiado permitió disminuir el contenido del quiste y observar en el control radiológico las vesículas hijas características del quiste hidatídico.
Abstract
Hydatidosis may show atypical radiological features leading to misdiagnosis.We report the case of a patient with a background history chronic alcohol abuse that presented with progressive abdominal distension and weight loss. The abdominal CT revealed a giant abdominal cyst that occupied the entire abdominal cavity compatible with a diagnosis o pancreatic pseudocyst. A transluminal drainage guided by endoscopic ultrasound decreased the fluid content of the cyst allowing to detect the daughter vesicles characteristic of the hydatid cyst during a follow-up CT.
